The city was entirely decorated with lights. In every nook and corner you can able to see the lights, from trees to street lights, from walls to buildings, and of course the magnificent Mysore palace. They are in different shapes, different colours and arranged in different ways. But all these differences give us one thing, which is immeasurable joy. It is actually a visual treat. Imagine an entire city decorated, fully with lights! Amazing, isn't it?
On every evening for the first nine days, cultural shows happen in Mysore palace. Wait, I tell you more about that.
Celebrations in Mysore Palace
As i said for the entire nine days, lot of culturals shows like music, dance, concert and instrument playing happen in Mysore palace. They set up one huge stage in front of a palace for the programs and huge screens were also placed on different areas inside the palace to project the video coverage of same. Auditorium like Stage and Chair were also being put up for the audience to see the programs and To see the beautiful sunset followed by Illumination of Mysore Palace with lights!!You may see thousands of sunsets in your life at many different places. But if you once saw the sunset which is happening here. I gurantee you, it will add into one among the top sunsets of your life which you have seen. Do you know how eyes pleading it is?
When the white sky turns into orange during the sunset, That astonishing structure of the palace along with soulful music will make you completely lost yourself. When we went there a concert was happening. That sunset along with songs combined with rich music, It melted the heart. Any inner wounding could possibly be healed with the help of that flute sound. That much love it was.
After the complete sunset, the sky will be entirely dark along with the arrival of the moon. Exactly at 7 o clock. The entire palace and its surroundings illuminate with millions of lights. When it happens, you automatically utter the word "WOW" in spite of your conscious. Words cannot describe the beauty of it. The cultural programs continue to happen till 9.30. You should see this great thing at least once in your lifetime.
Jamboo Savari
After nine days of astonishing festive celebrations. To put a cherry on top of the chocolate cake, there comes the jamboo savari. It is the thing which attracts people in all parts of india towards Mysore. Mysore is flooding of peoples because of jamboo savari. Okay, what does that jamboo savari really mean?
It really means a lot!! Jamboo savari starts from Mysore Palace and ends in a place called Banimantap. Throughout the path was filled with nothing but than people. The same streets which were flooded with lights few days back now flooded by the presence of people. They come hours before the actual procession timing in order to secure the place. Well i am also not an exception to this. for 2 o clock procession i went around 11.30 itself. I saw the procession from KR circle which is much nearer to the Palace. So it won't take a long time for the procession to reach this place. Discrimination in the form of passes is an inevitable thing here also. If you hold an golden pass, you are allowed to see the procession from inside the palace and getting those passes is not an easy thing to do.
After waiting for two and half hours, slowly they removed the barricade from the road which is the indication of procession is about to happen. As indicated, after few minutes some persons dressed in a traditional white dress along with matching headgears emerged. They carried a long flag along with them. Stick of that flag was entirely decorated with golden ornaments. They positioned it vertically and some people held the string attached to that flag at the same time. The left it up and down like a dance move. The mere presence of this, it removed all those tiredness and with that procession started.
Followed by this immediately a band came, playing music with a perfect unison as they are doing it in an independence day parade. I am sure even on independence day you can't see these much crowd. After that, many crews came, they represented the traditional music and dance of different states especially Karnataka. along with the procession persons dressed in monkey costume also came. They suddenly ran and fell on top of the barricade in order to entertain children and some grown ups also.
Along with the music and dance, decorated vehicles also came. They are same as those vehicles in the independence day parade. They portrayed the famous tourist places of Karnataka, government welfare schemes and animals, etc etc. To be frank, these vehicles are not really a interesting thing to watch in my opinion. It takes another two hours or more for these things to come. Now it is time for Ambari. Ambari!! what does that mean?
The entire five hours of waiting is only for this thing and this is the main thing of the entire procession. Ambari is the act of carrying the idol of lordess chamundeswari. Idol was placed inside an golden howdah carried by an elephant.
About 4.45 PM, after waiting in a hot sunny afternoon. After plenty of dance groups, drums music, Parade of peope wearing different costumes and 38 decorated vehicles, Finally the ambari came.
It is a kind of moment which I want to relive again and again. All the Camera man stood there in the center of KR Circle. In order to Capture a glimpse of lordess Chamundeswari. And the flashes started to rain when ambari came. A huge elephant which carried that 750 kg golden howdah walked slowly in the center accompanied by another two small elephants. Some persons sat on top of both those two elephants by firmly holding the string which is attached to Golden howdah. Though the howdah was tied on back of the elephant they are doing these to give some additional support. All the tired faces now brighten up like a 1000 watt bulb by the presence of Chamundi. It was just an eyes pleadng thing to watch. Along with cameras, mobile phones also joined the party of capturing that rare moment. People climb on top of trees, not only trees wherever it is possible to just see a single glimpse of Ambari.
Ambari, lasted only for few minutes but the impact which it created will remain as a golden memory for the entire life. For next dasara, you also try to visit Mysore in order to experience this beautiful occassion. If you like this one share it with others. Have a good day!!!
